- Client fit — Which client segments the firm appears best suited to serve (startups, SMEs, corporates, specific industries).
- Value proposition — The overall balance of cost, quality, and service for the target client segment.
Rankings within each comparison reflect editorial judgement based on these criteria, weighted according to the specific comparison context. A "Best for Startups" comparison weights accessibility and pricing differently than a "Best for Corporates" comparison.

All analysis draws exclusively on publicly available information:
- Firm websites, pricing pages, and service descriptions
- TTIPAB public register of registered trade marks attorneys
- Professional body membership directories (IPTA, IPSANZ, FICPI)
- Published case studies and client testimonials on firm websites
- Publicly stated pricing, fixed-fee structures, and service packages
- IP Australia published data and statistics
We do not use paid data services, conduct surveys, or rely on self-reported firm information beyond what is publicly published.
